Lunch with an old friend today
Not so old, neither in age nor in time known
More an old friend in the path we’ve walked together
Each of us on our own path that for a while ran alongside each other
Parallel and oftentimes so similar they could have crossed over each other without pause
Entwined and braided for moments in time

Then apart like two streams leading to two distant rivers

But not for long
These paths, these streams
They crossed again
Life’s circumstances so similar we couldn’t help but reunite
“Tell me of your life, the one lived since I last saw your face
And I’ll tell you of mine, the joys and pain, the same ones you know so very well”

Lunch with an old friend
Not so old, neither in age nor in time known
Instead an old friend because we’ve shared some of life’s highest moments and lowest mires
And once in a while one is lucky enough to have a fairly new ‘”Old Friend”
