Some days I really miss the good old days! The ones before communication became so complicated and technical and digital. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good text message, a nice catch-up email, a fun post on Facebook or a long running Instant Message. But there are times when picking up the phone, dialing a number and having an honest to goodness conversation with someone is so much easier.
I have heard that if it takes more than 3 emails to clarify something it’s time to pick up the phone…..
I have now been engaged in a total of 15 emails back and forth to a colleague and her boss trying to explain a report that I need. I have received 3 reports, none of them the one I require and I am sure she is starting to hear the frustration in the tone of my emails as I have now asked, for the third time, if she has a phone number where I can call her to make this process simpler. Energy, time, focus all pulled from course as we volley back and forth on screens for something that should have taken 3 minutes. 11am and my entire day so far has been confiscated by the inability to communicate at a level that is productive. Unbelievable.
I can only assume she has not heard the above mentioned adage.
